Listening to a presentation is an attack on the audience for the public. Holding the attention is the key to conveying your message. You do this by varying your speaking, alternating ordinary information with stories and examples. These stories and examples make it easier for the public to keep following your story. You also have the opportunity to convey something of your passion and enthusiasm to the public. You make it personal and take it for you! Even more important is that if you have the attention of the public you can show the importance of your presentation to them . If you know how to make the audience involved in your presentation, they will also be able to keep your attention focused on your story.

An image says more than 1000 words. This is right. People learn and remember better when a chat is accompanied by images. The visual and verbal material is processed through different channels. The brains are thus stimulated from multiple sides and are better able to make themselves a structure of the presentation. Do not overdo it with images: one can only pay attention to a few pieces of information at the same time. The image must clarify and / or represent your accompanying story. If not, do not use it. Keep the image, as well as the structure of your chat, simple and clear.

The presenter should never say exactly the same as what is displayed on the slide. He says more. The slide is supportive. You can check yourself: the powerpoint you created for your presentation must be unusable without you. If you can use your powerpoint as a handout, then you have powerpoint to work against you instead of for you.

For the slides themselves, the use of color, the font and the type of pictures are important. Make sure that the colors you use are clearly visible. Complementary colors work well, with the cool color in the background and the warm color in the foreground. Color also gives atmosphere. Whichever colors you choose as foreground and background color: keep it there. Each slide has a different layout. The same applies to the font. A sans serif letter, not too small. Good to use are Arial, Helvetica or Gill. The images and graphs you use must be of good quality. Sharp, beautiful and clearly visible. Pictures of people always work well. People like to watch people. Do not use poor quality clip art or photos.

- View the journal and see how they use visual aids. When do they deploy them? When do they use lists? How do they use repetition? How long do you look at a speaking face? View the journal a number of times. The more often you look, the more things you notice. Also check out a journal from another country or another channel.
- Search the internet for color schemes and free stock photography.
- Make slides with your presentation. Make sure the slides represent and support your story. Make use of images of people, simple graphs, videos. Be critical of whether it really contributes, otherwise you will make a black slide.
