Brief Description
The Communications Officer will be primary responsible to direct and manage the communication strategy of the Center in support of the goal and mission as well as to support the Executive Director with international affairs, development partner relations and reporting activities.
Responsibilities & related task
- Support the Executive Director with strategic orientation of the communication regionally and internationally
- Further and develop the concepts and tools for communicating and profiling the Center s activity and brand (e.g. Weekly Digest, Website, Brochures)
- Systematic planning and execution of communication activities
- Content development based on the output of the center for use in communication material (copy editing , summarizing and proof reading) and quality oversight across the chain of communication activities
- Manage and coordinate period reporting on the centers activities for the public, development partners and funders
- Supervise interns/short term assistant in the same area / department
- Liaise with international agencies/international business/financial institutions and development partner and follow up communications on behalf of the Executive Director
- Advice portfolio managers (PPMs) on their communication work and manage the exchange of information between PPMs for communication activities and reporting (e.g. publications, press conferences, and internet) and assuring the quality of articles.
- Coordinate cooperation with external communication service providers
Required Qualifications
- University Degree at the Master level, in Communications, International Relations, Development Economics or related fields (with orientation through academic work on the MENA region)
- Professional experience: at least five years of professional experience in the field of communication (PR, internal communication)
- Other qualifications\competencies
o Familiarly and work experience related to the field of energy policy, RE and/or EE in the MENA region
o Experience in project and/or event management
o Editorial experience, experience in writing articles, press releases
o Very good working knowledge of ICT
o Fluency in English and other European languages used by development partners is an asset (e.g. German, French, Danish etc)

General Terms and Conditions

The candidate will start at C2 level with the equivalent salary scale. The accepted candidate will start in January 2013 based on a renewable 6 months contract. The recruitment is on national basis.
