As a statistician, your work consists of developing or applying mathematical or statistical theories and methods to collect, organize, interpret and summarize figures to produce useful information. Some statisticians specialize in areas such as biological, agricultural, business or economic statistics. A statistician is also referred to as a statistical researcher.

A statistician who focuses on analyzing and controlling automatically generated data and using algorithms, for example, is called a data scientist.
