The teaching of of beverage knowledge must develop students to acquire the knowledge of cold and hot beverages, their origin, properties, areas of utilize and character. Students will also be given the chance to develop knowledge about cultivation areas, production methods, different fabricating processes and raw materials and how this impacts the quality and price of end product.
Students will be given the chance to develop the ability to serve drinks, design drink lists and to recognize and evaluate the quality of various drinks. In addition, students should be given the chance to develop knowledge of intending of senses for assessment. The teaching should also lead to students developing knowledge of local and international drinking traditions from a modern and historical perspective. The teaching should also lead to students developing an understanding of needs and requirements of various guests.
The teaching should lead to students developing knowledge about what is intended by responsible soft drink serving and about the harmful effects of soft drink. It should also lead to students developing knowledge about soft drink policy and ethical issues in area plus about laws and another regulations concerning the handling of different beverages.
In the teaching, students must be given the chance to practically apply their knowledge of serving, mixing and preparing drinks. Students will also be given the chance to practically train their ability to evaluate and recognize beverages.
