The job of a hiring manager is purely about hiring new staff and selecting the right person for the job. In an HR team with both a recruiter and a hiring manager, the recruiter's job is to recruit as many suitable candidates as possible. The hiring manager must choose the right person to hire from this pool of candidates.

The qualities that a hiring manager must possess mainly lie in understanding which qualities the candidate has to perform the job properly. A hiring manager asks the right questions, but also knows which candidates are needed in terms of culture and diversity for the organization to work optimally.
